The city of Santa Maria de los Buenos Aires is the Federal District of the Republic of Argentina and the most important cosmopolitan urban center in the country. The city stretches south-to-north along the Rio de la Plata, has been the gateway to Argentina for centuries. The weather in Buanos Aires is oceanic temperate. The annual average temperature is 18ºC. There are no frosts in the winter and the temperatures range from 5ºC to 15ºC. In the summer, it is hot and humid and the average temperature is 28ºC. Portenos, as the multinational people of Buenos Aires are known, possess an elaborate and rich cultural identity. They value their European heritage highland the lifestyle and architecture are markedly more European than any other in South America.

City of Mar del Plata

Mar del Plata

This is a pleasant Argentine city located on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, about 400 km from Buenos Aires. The city turns into a beach resort over the summer months with up to 2 million inhabitants of Buenos Aires and the rest of the country making their way down to the beach. Comfortable temperatures allow for swimming and relaxation at this destination. Mar del Plata is home of professional basketball and soccer clubs, and it also has its own rugby and field hockey leagues as well as other sports.

Montevideo, Uruguay

Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay, has a sly sophistication and surprising cultural diversity for such a small population. It boasts a picturesque blend of colonial Spanish, Italian and Art Deco styles. Many Argentines come here to relax during their summer break and bask on the white sandy beaches. Montevideo's port market was the continent's finest when it opened back in 1868, but today it survives on personality and atmosphere, of which it still has plenty.

Colonia, Uruguay

A visit to the historic center of Colina del Sacramento is like a walk back in time. Founded in 1680 by the Portuguese, this old colonial town is renowned for its cobbled, windy streets and colorful houses reminiscent of old Lisbon. Due to its colonial beginnings, the city's layout is different from the majority of uruguayan cities. It cobbled streets and houses alternate with small bars, excellent restaurants, art and craft shops, museums and a large yacht harbor.

At the beginning of the 19th century, Punta del Este was a vas semi-deserted region only visited by sailors and fisherman. Today this coastal town, commonly referred to as the St Tropez of South America, attracts close to 300,000 visitors each year. Opposite the large peninsula separating the two waters of the Atlantic Ocen and the river Plate (Rio de la Plata), lie the enchanted islands of Isla Gorriti and Isla de Lobos, inhabited by one of the world's largest sea lion colonies.

Iguazu Falls

Iguazú Falls

The waterfall system consists of about 270 falls along 2.7 kilometres (1.67 miles) of the Iguazu River. Some of the individual falls are up to 82 metres (269 feet) in height, though the majority are about 64 metres (210 feet). The Garganta del Diablo or Devil's Throat (Garganta do Diabo in Portuguese), a U-shaped 150-metre-wide and 700-metre-long (490 by 2300 feet) cliff, is the most impressive of all, and marks the border between Argentina and Brazil. Most of the falls are within Argentine territory, but from the Brazilian side a more panoramic view of the Garganta del Diablo is obtained. The falls are shared by the Iguazu National Park (Argentina) and Iguacu National Park (Brazil). These parks were designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Córdoba

Córdoba was born as a result of the wish to link Alto Perú to Río de la Plata. It is located in a valley; junction of many roads. It is an inevitable tourist area because of its rich history and cultural and regional activities. The Historical City Centre and its rich architectural patrimony is constantly visited. Its centennial university calls the attention of scientific and technician. Its shopping centres are also attractive recreation sites. Córdoba is proud to have a highly qualified hotel trade and gastronomy. Visiting Córdoba means coming back to a past immersed in present full of suggestive options for entertainment. The Porvince has revealed its charm: its full flat extension covered by brooks, marshes and lagoons. Farm tourism and rural tourism are possible through photographic safaris and bird watching.

The Andes

The Central West side of Argentina, known as Cuyo, is a zona of contrast. It is an arid mountaineous region (seat of the highest peak of America, the Aconcagua), corssed by plentiful rivers whose waters come down from the Andes. The man, through irrigation canals, took profit of this resources and turn this region into a prosperous and quite suitable place for the development of grapevines and the subsequent elaboration of high quality wines, exported all over the world. Numerous wineries are open to the local and international public. In order to surmount the mountain ranges, the rivers make its courses flow deeper and give birth to imposing gorges such as the "Atuel Canyon", owner of a singular colour and beauty. The sports and adventure tourism offers multiple alternatives such as rafting , andinism, trekking, ski and many others.

This is a mountain region, alternated with lakes, glaciers and woods. It posseses one of the most spectacular landscapes in Argentina. Several national parks, most of which can be visited, protect its fauna and its landscape richness. Many tourists destinations are visited by travellers from all over the world, who among other attractions, can appreciate one of the most beautiful glaciers in the world: Perito Moreno. This is an excellent place for adventure tourism, for it includes numberless possibilities for the practice of trekking, rafting alpinism, mountain bike, water sports; etc.

Province of Jujuy

Northwest Region - Salta & Jujuy, Catamarca and La Rioja

The northwestern part of Argentina is a mountaineous region with spectacular landscapes. It stands, to the west, as an elevated plateau, crossed by high mountain ranges. In its central part there are gorges of a huge slpe. To the east, we find sierras that barely exceed the 2000 metres, as a transition to the plain. The tourist Train to the clouds is one of the highest trains in the world, gives you the possibility of enjoying these landscapes in an unparalleled way. In these mountans you will find the contrast of the snow in the highest peaks, and the red, violet and green colours of the living rock.

Extreme South - Tierra del Fuego Island - The end of the world

The extreme south of the American continent. Just a few hundred miles away from the Antartica. Nearly 500 years ago, a group of explorers from the Old World discovered for the first time the coasts of an unknown land.
Dispersed fires and columns of smoke seemed to float upon the waters, in the mist of dawn: this mystical setting gave the island its name, Land of Fire. The options here are endless: in summer, discover the landscape on foot, by bus, on horseback, by sailing and even by train; in winter, by Nordic and Alpine ski, snow motor skis, or dog sledges. A generours amount of trout and salmon species, has turn the city of Río Grande into the hemispheric capital of "sea trout" fishing. Test your fishing skills on the world’s southernmost rivers, and be amazed by the size of fish. Specimens of over 20 pounds have been caught in this area.

The Pampas

The Pampas

The land of the Gauchos. The whole region is mostly plain, only interrupted by the sierras of Tandil (500 metres above sea level) and Sierra de la Ventana (1,200 metres above sea level). This region is just minutes away from the cities of Buenos Aires Mar del Plata. It is maybe the richest region of Argentina and it is quite appropiate for the agricultural and cattle breeding activities, for it comprises huge areas used for the sowing of seeds and the breeding of cattle.
